Performances of Phantom Limb Company’s 69°S. on tour in Boston, February 7 – 12 at the ArtsEmerson Paramount Theater and in Keene, New Hampshire, February 15 at the Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College.

Parker’s charming show is, roughly, what one gets after removing the plot and the grand design of “The Nutcracker” and replacing them with a playful deconstruction of Tchaikovsky’s glorious score. Instead of Balanchinean geometries, we get Fosse-like jazz dance (top hats included) and male partnering, as well as quite a bit of clowning around. But Parker is no dummy—he knows the music inside and out and treats it with the loving if somewhat irreverent touch of a hipster with a heart full of mistletoe.
